On Saturday Spencer and I along with our friends Scott and Haley, set out on a mission to hike up the "M." For those of you wondering what the "M" is, it's a giant white letter at the top of one of the mountains here in our city (similar to the "Y" in Provo). We were excited that we found a generous friend to let us borrow their hiking backpack to put Owen in. We met up with our friends early Saturday morning and set off on the adventure. We had never hiked to the "M" before, but we heard from numerous people that there are two trails up to it: the easy trail and the hard trail. When we reached the trail head we took the path that definitely looked easier.
Here we are setting off on our hike on a fairly flat course.

Spencer carried Owen on his back the entire hike and Owen did surprisingly well.

Our friends Scott and Haley.

After hiking for what seemed like 2 or 3 miles we began to wonder why the trail we were on didn't seem to be going "UP" the mountain, we just kept winding around the base of it. We hiked a little bit further and then decided to just turn around and go back. We were all puzzled as to why the trail we were on never went up to the "M".

Despite the lack of actually going up the mountain it was a beautiful day and we did enjoy the time being together outdoors.

When we got back to where we started the hike we realized that we are idiots!! This sign was right in front of our faces with an arrow pointing us to the right trail.....apparently we went on the hidden springs trail instead. We were all kicking ourselves for not seeing this sign before!!

We decided that we would gear up and hike to the "M" this coming Saturday, anyone care to join us?? I promise we won't get lost this time!

yea! I'm glad you got to use the back pack! I forgot to tell you I think that Tamarah might have a back pack to borrow if you are looking for another one :) Looks like a beautiful time of year to hike the M.
