My sweet little Audrey girl turned 2 back in March, and I have been meaning to do a little two-year up-date ever since then, and isn't it sad that I am just now doing it two and a half months later?? My camera is partially to blame, since it hadn't been working right, and I didn't want to post without pictures, but it's fixed now so I really don't have any more excuses!! The first four pictures were taken the week of her birthday, and it's amazing to me how much she has grown in the last 10 weeks!! Everyday she looks more and more like a little girl rather than a baby.
Audrey has been our little princess since the day she was born. She is sweet as can be, but more recently has developed a saucier side! She is extremely independent, and a bit of a tom-boy. She loves playing outside and getting dirty is her speciality. She goes through clothes a lot faster than Owen does just because she seems to make a mess with whatever she is doing. Audrey tends to play a little rough, but can really hold her own against other kids, even those twice her size! She loves to play with other kids and isn't at all shy. She's a tough little girl and rarely cries when she falls or gets hurt.
Audrey is also quite the daredevil. She isn't afraid of anything and will try just about anything. For those of you on Facebook if you haven't seen the video Spencer posted of our two year old zip-lining, you need to check it out....pretty impressive! In other daredevil attempts Audrey decided that she would jump off the top bunk of Owen's bunk bed! Luckily she didn't get hurt, but needless to say the ladder has been hidden so no one can even get on the top bunk.
Ever since I had Audrey enrolled in gymnastics she has turned into a little monkey! She climbs and swings on anything and everything that she can around the house. Audrey started climbing out of her crib right around 21 months. We tried everything to keep her in her crib, even resorting to taking the bottom of the crib completely out so the mattress was on the floor with the crib (cage) around her, but after only one night she figured out how to climb out. She is now sleeping happily in her full size big girl bed.
Talk about independent!! This is Audrey going down the giant slide at Pump It Up just last week. She could climb up there all by herself, and loved every second of it!
This picture was actually just taken tonight at Owen's football banquet. She was crying because she wanted to be in the picture so bad, so after all the parents got their pictures I let her jump in. Audrey always wants to be included in what the big kids are doing.
On Friday we hiked Mt. Rubidoux again. (Yes I did it 9 months pregnant, pushing a double stroller up-hill!!) I think Audrey's shirt says it all: she really is "One of a Kind." This is Audrey and her best little buddy Tagert. These two are so cute together, they love each other to death! Audrey frequently asks to play with "Taggie."
More things I want to remember about Audrey at 2 years old:
- She is an excellent eater. There are very few things she won't eat. She used to be so small and the doctors were worried about her weight, but now she is in the 85% for weight.
- She loves Owen and the two of them are best friends. They play so well together
- Audrey loves to dance and listen to music
- She knows all of her colors and can count to ten. She recently started recognizing a few letters as well
- She is still obsessed with trains and loves playing with her Thomas the Train toy
- She is a happy kid, but can sometimes be a little demanding when she wants something
- Audrey loves animals, especially cats, dogs, and birds. And since a recent trip to Sea World she has a thing for sea turtles too
- Audrey will often to pretend to be a kitty cat and will purr and paw at me.
- She is obsessed with smells and is constantly smelling me (so weird!!). She likes to identify good and bad smells.
- Gets very excited when she sees things out the window while driving. Examples: buses, trains, motorcycles, bugs. Excited screaming and pointing usually takes place when she spots on of these things.
Audrey has brought so much joy and happiness into our home, the kind I think only a little girl can bring. She makes me laugh on a daily basis. She has such a pure and free spirit, which is very refreshing since Owen and I can both be a little anal and up-tight. She definitely balances out our home and makes it more of a happy place to be. We love our little Audrey girl, our family wouldn't be complete without her!
