Today was just one of those days that was pretty much perfect. I love days like today with my kids! The day started bright and early with me dragging my kids to my morning work-out class that I have been going to 4-5 mornings a week all summer. I enjoy the butt-kicking and my kids enjoy running around and playing with the other kids there.
After a shower and Preston had a quick nap we went on a tour of our local Fire Station with a fun group of friends that my friend, Lisa put together. We have done a tour before, but now that both kids are little bit older they really seemed to enjoy it. Owen was TOTALLY into it and sat and listened to every word the firefighters told him. Even Audrey was a good listener and seemed pretty fascinated with the trucks and where the fireman slept. Preston did great hanging out in his stroller eating a few snacks.
All the firefighters were great with the kids. Each kid got their own hat and badge to take home along with some information about what to do if there is a fire in our house. All Owen can think about is how the firemen will have to chop a hole in our roof if we ever have a fire....he's a little obsessed about it and worried about how we're going to be able to fix the hole. He's a little crazy, but we love him!
Even Preston got a fire hat. The kid is loving hats right now, so this was perfect for him!
After our tour we headed to 7-11 for FREE Slurpee day. First of all, can you believe that my kids have NEVER had a Slurpee? They were seriously in heaven when they had their first taste. And second, both Owen and Audrey couldn't believe that we didn't have to pay! Owen asked me several times, "Are you really sure we don't need to pay mom? We don't want to steal!"
We enjoyed our icy cold Slurpee's in the shade then went home for quiet time. Right now Preston is taking his second nap and Owen and Audrey are playing Lego's in Owen's room. I love to hear my children playing happily together. Being a mom really is fantastic, especially on days like today!
