Basketball

Owen has enjoyed playing Peewee sports in the past, so after getting a tip from my friend Taryn, we went ahead and signed Owen up for basketball. The kid was THRILLED with the idea of playing and could not wait to get started. When we showed up on the first day Owen was so excited to see that Nate was on his team!!
Owen was on the five-year-old team, which is the oldest peewee sports goes up to. I was amazed to see how good some of the kids were at Basketball! The hoop seemed way too high for the kids, but most of them were able to make baskets. Some of the boys on Owen's team were pretty good, Nate included. Let's just say that Owen LOVED playing and always had a really good time with his team and coaches. Owen never complained and really did try his hardest. Owen managed to get the ball at least once each game, but never did make a basket. He was always happy to just be there and luckily didn't seem discouraged that he didn't get to play much or touch the ball very often.
Spencer and I enjoyed going to the games, as it was quite entertaining to watch the kids play. The season was 7 weeks long which was perfect for us. Now that it's over Owen has decided that he would like to play again, but thinks we should get a basketball net at our house so he can practice "scoring." Owen seems pretty determined to make a basket next season.

Owen actually wasn't too bad of a defensive player....when he wasn't pretending to be a superhero...

The Clippers all together after their last game. Coach bought them some pizza and gave out medals. Owen was thrilled with his medal. As soon as we got home he hung it with his other sports medals.

Now it's on to the next sport....soccer!
