Something you may not know about Audrey is that she loves playing soccer, and she's actually quite good. When we showed up to the first practice at the beginning of the season she saw that she was going to be on the yellow team (she was yellow last season too) she just sighed and said, "yellow soccer again? That's ok." I thought it was pretty funny.
Originally I was a little nervous about her playing on the four year old team since she had just turned 4 a week prior to starting, but she fit right in and did great! Audrey is pretty aggressive, when she wants to be, and doesn't have a problem getting right in there and going after the ball, This season she was much more aware of which goal she was supposed to score in and I'm happy to report that she only scored goals for her team this time around!
Audrey was a little go-getter and usually scored at least once a game. She really enjoyed her team and liked that she wasn't the only girl on the team. Her team actually had more girls than boys! Another little funny thing to journal about is Audrey always insisted on wearing her skirt for games so as the season went on more and more girls on her team started wearing skirts for the games. Little trendsetter!
One of the games Audrey's team only had 4 players and they needed at least 5 kids to be able to play so the coach let Owen play! Owen loved it. It was pretty fun to watch both kids out on the field.
I had to include this picture. Preston was playing with my phone and actually took this picture of the two of us while we sitting and watching one of the games. It isn't half bad!!
Audrey had an awesome coach this season. Coach Donnie was the best!! Turned out that he was married to one of my friends from high school who was on the swim team with me. That was fun to catch up with her during the practices. They were a fun couple who knew how to make soccer fun for four year olds. Hopefully we'll be able to keep in touch with them. Maybe he can be Audrey's coach again in the future!
After their last game we had pizza at Mountain Mike's and the coach gave out medals to all the kids. It was a successful soccer season!
