Star Wars Day

One of my favorite things about my city is all the awesome activities there are for kids and the amazing library and all the fabulous programs they sponsor. Yesterday our library had "Star Wars Day." We invited the Guerrero's to come with us since both Owen and Jackson are pretty much obsessed. Owen was thrilled to spend the day with his best buddy and all the kids were thrilled to get to dress up and it wasn't even Halloween (that was Owen's quote!)
Here's Master Yoda Jackson and Luke Skywalker Owen, light saber's and all, in the parking lot right before we went in. Audrey was just as excited as the boys to dress up as Princess Leia.
In front of the library there is a giant courtyard where a TON of start wars characters were walking around. The kids wanted to get pictures with as many of them as possible. Some of the characters were kind of scary, but the kids weren't scared one bit! Here they are with Jabba the Hut.
Ummmm.......some robot? Spencer would know it's name. The robot was remote controlled, and both boys found it pretty entertaining!
About 30 minutes after we got there the kids were melting in their costumes since it was so hot outside, so reluctantly they took their FLEECE costumes off.
Darth Mal was seriously scary, but neither of my kids seemed to mind. Owen wants to be Darth Mal for Halloween.....not sure how I feel about that one!
Let's be honest, Spencer was just as much into the Star Wars day as the kids were. He was so in to it!! Spencer secretly loves that his kids like Star Wars so he can enjoy his childhood all over again!! This Darth Vader was the best, I was dying over how funny/mean he was!
SUPER CREEPY Eewok!! Audrey loved him and just wanted to keep giving him hugs. I think she thought he was a teddy bear, I was creeped out!
Besides being able to take pictures and talk to all the Star Wars characters the kids got to make "Yoda Ears" which Audrey wore the entire time. They also made Star Wars puppets and we watched a Light Saber demonstration which the kids were totally into. Think a slightly less stellar Star Wars performance than what Disneyland does. Lots of fighting and swinging light sabers. I couldn't help but laugh a little bit, but the kids liked it. There was also story time with Darth Vader. The four kids are waiting for Darth to come read to them in the picture below.
I must say that the Darth Vader story time was the highlight of the day for me. It was pretty spectacular to hear him read the story through that breathing machine. He read the three little pigs, but instead of a wolf,  the story had Darth Vader blow all the pig's houses up, even the brick house....the kids LOVED it! Both Spencer and I were pretty impressed as well.
You can't have Star Wars Day without a little bit of sword fighting. Owen and Jackson randomly started fighting with these two other boys...probably the highlight of the day for the boys, they loved it!! It was all in fun, and no one got hurt.
See, didn't I say that our library is the best?! We are looking forward to Super Hero Day and Hello Kitty Day in the future, so call me if that sounds fun to you too!!
